Isabella Tree
Isabella Tree is an award-winning writer and conservationist who lives with her husband, Charlie Burrell, in the middle of a pioneering rewilding project in West Sussex. She is author of six non-fiction books, including the 2018 award-winning book, Wilding: The Return of Nature to a British farm.
Her follow-on book in 2023, co-authored with Charlie, The Book of Wilding - A Practical Guide to Rewilding Big and Small, has been described as ‘a handbook of hope’, and features chapters on rewilding gardens and cities.
Her 2024 version of Wilding for children, illustrated by Angela Harding, includes practical tips on how children can do their bit for nature in their own backyards. Her 2025 TED talk describes the couple’s experiment to rewild their Victorian walled garden using lessons learned from rewilding the wider landscape. It includes their top three tips for rewilding your own garden or green space.
