joshua sparkes

Joshua Sparkes has worked in horticulture for over 15 years. He now works for The Collective at Woolsery, managing the market garden as part of Birch Farm. Birch Farm has been trialling natural farming methods that strive to create a food growing system that encourages cohabitation with food and biodiversity. Food Forests, Agroforestry and Perennial Foods now play a key role on the farm and as we have to question what food resilience will look like in an every changing climate. Joshua will be talking about how they have built and maintain fertility without the use of large amounts compost and wood chip, instead choosing to use weeds, perennials and trees.
